The Studio of Ben Solowey celebrated its 60th anniversary with its exhibition appropriately titled The Farm At 60. This show showcased Bens paintings, drawings, etchings and photographs that eloquently expressed his love for the 34-acre farm he made "home."
His surroundings inspired a stunning body of work that was beautifully represented in this exhibition. The farm provided Ben with an inexhaustible supply of material for his still lifes and landscapes, and acted as a striking background for his figure studies and his renowned portraiture.
Where other artists traveled the world for inspiration, Ben found it right out his studio door. The Solowey farm not only supplied Ben with material for his paintings, but it also provided him with opportunity and space to pursue his other interests whether it be gardening, cabinetry, or masonry. It was at the farm he came into his own as a true Renaissance Man.
This exhibition opened in October 1996 and ran through the Winter.
