Invitations will be mailed next week but I promise you that this is one you won\u2019t want to miss:<\/p>\n<h5>\u201cWe\u2019ll See You When We Do\u201d<br \/>\nCelebrating 25 Years of Exhibitions at the Studio of Ben Solowey<br \/>\nOctober 7\u201321, 2017<br \/>\nSaturdays and Sundays 1 to 5 p.m.<br \/>\nAnd throughout the fall and winter by appointment<\/h5>\n<p>We are bringing together a selection of great works from over 35 exhibitions we have presented at the Studio over the last quarter century, as well as sprinkling in a few rarely or never before seen works, all to show the astonishing versatility of Ben Solowey.<\/p>\n<p>Ben\u2019s portrait, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.michenerartmuseum.org\/bucksartists\/image\/1532\/?utm_source=Copy+of+Studio+170419&amp;utm_campaign=170906&amp;utm_medium=email\">Rae Seated (Green Dress)<\/a>&#8221; is one of the most popular paintings at the nearby James A. Michener Art Museum, and for those who love Rae, there will a collection of drawings and paintings that show how she came to represent \u201cWoman Eternal,\u201d in Ben\u2019s work, according to fellow artist Albert Gold.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_178\" style=\"width: 266px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/solowey.com\/exhibitions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/42.jpg.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-178\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-178\" src=\"http:\/\/solowey.com\/exhibitions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/42.jpg-256x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"256\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/solowey.com\/exhibitions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/42.jpg-256x300.png 256w, https:\/\/solowey.com\/exhibitions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/42.jpg.png 634w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 256px) 100vw, 256px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-178\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Imaginative Flowers<\/em><br \/>Oil on canvas, 20 x 16 in.,1924<\/p><\/div>\n<p>While the garden season is winding down, inside the Studio is a veritable cornucopia of blossoms in a variety of still lifes from throughout Ben\u2019s career. From the 1924 modernist &#8220;Imaginative Flowers\u201d (in a special Ben Solowey handcrafted frame) to a stunning \u201cTulips and Lilacs\u201d (in another gorgeous Solowey hand carved and gold leafed frame) that once hung on the walls of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, you will see why, for the Soloweys, floral arrangements were, in Rae\u2019s words, \u201ca body and soul thing.\u201d The tulips and lilacs for instance had a special significance, as they came right from the garden here, as did virtually all the still lifes Ben painted in his forty years on the farm.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_179\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/solowey.com\/exhibitions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/201LR1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-179\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-179\" src=\"http:\/\/solowey.com\/exhibitions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/201LR1-300x248.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"248\" srcset=\"https:\/\/solowey.com\/exhibitions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/201LR1-300x248.jpg 300w, https:\/\/solowey.com\/exhibitions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/201LR1-768x635.jpg 768w, https:\/\/solowey.com\/exhibitions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/201LR1.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-179\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Sunlit Road, Pompton, New Jersey<\/em><br \/>Oil on canvas_ 20 x 24 in., c. 1935<\/p><\/div>\n<p>For those who love landscapes, this show will take you to Paris, New York, Maine and of course, right here in Bucks County. Whether clothed or not, you will see the female form in drawings, oils, watercolors, plaster and bronze. We have a special section devoted to Ben\u2019s sculpture that includes his hand made model stand and sculpting tools.<\/p>\n<p>And for you theater lovers, don\u2019t worry, we have assembled a starry cast of Ben\u2019s famous \u201cTheater Portraits\u201d that reveal Ben as Broadway\u2019s Holbein in the 1930s.<\/p>\n<p>Please join us for our opening reception Saturday, October 7th at 1 p.m. We will continue our tradition of opening the Solowey home (c. 1765) where you will not only see Ben\u2019s handmade furniture, inspired by visits to the American wing of the Metropolitan and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, but his long trestle table will be covered in homemade baked goods made by the extended Solowey\/Leopold family.<\/p>\n<p>As usual, we\u00a0will present a gallery talk everyday during the run of the exhibition at 2:30 filled with anecdotes and history of the works on view.
