{"id":83,"date":"2016-04-19T15:57:07","date_gmt":"2016-04-19T15:57:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/solowey.com\/exhibitions\/?p=83"},"modified":"2017-01-13T16:50:13","modified_gmt":"2017-01-13T16:50:13","slug":"homage-a-new-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/solowey.com\/exhibitions\/homage-a-new-exhibition\/","title":{"rendered":"2016 Homage: Ben Solowey\u2019s Art Inspired by His Influences"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Studio of Ben Solowey announces a new exhibition, <em><strong>Homage: Ben Solowey\u2019s Art Inspired by His Influences<\/strong><\/em>, featuring paintings and drawings by Ben Solowey that examine the impact of a wide range of artists including Cezanne, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.solowey.com\/wp\/archive\/after-watteau\/\">Watteau<\/a>, Sargent, Ingres. and Renoir on Solowey\u2019s work and how their work influenced Solowey\u2019s art. \u201cAlthough an internationally known artist in his own right, Ben Solowey never stopped studying past masters. In this exhibition, visitors have a chance to see what Ben saw and witness how he assimilated those styles and approaches into his own work,\u201d says David Leopold, Director of the Solowey Studio. \u201cYou will see Ben Solowey as you have never seen him before.\u201d\u00a0 Homage: Ben Solowey\u2019s Art Inspired by His Influences will open to the public on Saturday May 21st at the Solowey Studio in Bedminster, PA with a reception from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit will continue Saturdays and Sundays, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., through June 5th and then by appointment through August.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_84\" style=\"width: 251px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/solowey.com\/exhibitions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Seine.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-84\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-84\" src=\"http:\/\/solowey.com\/exhibitions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Seine-241x300.jpg\" alt=\"Along the Seine Ben Solowey Oil on canvas board, 16 x 13 inches. 1924\" width=\"241\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/solowey.com\/exhibitions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Seine-241x300.jpg 241w, https:\/\/solowey.com\/exhibitions\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Seine.jpg 257w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 241px) 100vw, 241px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-84\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Along the Seine<\/em><br \/>Ben Solowey<br \/>Oil on canvas board, 16 x 13 inches. 1924<\/p><\/div>\n<p><em><strong>Homage: Ben Solowey\u2019s Art Inspired by His Influences<\/strong> <\/em>features the wide range of media that Ben Solowey mastered over his sixty-year career including oil paintings, watercolors, drawings, and prints. \u201cBen studied the Masters and all forms of art throughout his entire career. His artistic DNA was a unique strand of classical and modern art, and he was keenly aware of not only art history, but the art of his time,\u201d says Leopold. \u201cWe will utilize both Ben\u2019s original artwork and reproductions pulled directly for his library and\/or \u201cmorgue,\u201d his personal collection of articles and reproductions that he kept for study. The Studio has been featured in Architectural Digest, Pennsylvania Heritage, Philadelphia Magazine, The Discerning Traveler, and Bucks County Town and Country Living.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn honor of our opening on May 21st, we will continue our tradition of serving homemade refreshments in the Solowey home, \u201c explains Leopold. \u201cThe two hundred-year old farmhouse was restored by Ben and is filled with museum quality furniture handcrafted by him. This will be the only time we open the house this year, so this truly is a special event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Regular admission to <em><strong>Homage: Ben Solowey\u2019s Art Inspired by His Influences<\/strong><\/em> is $5. Hours are Saturdays and Sundays, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. through June 5th, and by appointment through August.
